BARGARH: In a major breakthrough in the Paikmal gangrape case, Crime Branch sleuths have arrested one of the absconding accused -- Gunanidhi Nag from Raipur in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday night. He was wanted by the Crime Branch in connection with the gang-rape of a dalit girl which created ripples in the state.
The prime accused of the incident and chairman of Paikmal block, Mahesh Agrawal, is still at large along with three others Sajan Agrawal, Pintu Pradhan and an APR constable Kunal Singh Bariha. The girl was allegedly called by Mahesh to the block office on May 10 on the plea of appointing her as an anganwadi worker and raped her on the block office premises. Meanwhile, the victim girl of Bukramunda village in Paikmal block has been admitted to Padampur Government Hospital after her conditions deteriorated yesterday.
