5 Naxals killed in police encounter in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, Feb 7 (PTI) Five Naxals were killed in a police encounter in Chhattishgarh's Narayanpur district today.

The encounter took place at the forest area of Honganar in the district, IG R K Vij told PTI.

Acting on a tip-off about Naxal activity in Honganar forest area, a special police force reached there. On seeing the security personnel, the extremists started firing. In the retaliatory fire, which lasted for two hours, five rebels were killed, Vij said.

The other Naxals managed to fled, he said, adding fire arms and explosives were also recovered from the area.
