The monastery and the temple is located in the southern part of Raipur city on the banks of an ancient river called Maharajbandh. This ancient temple dedicate to Lord Rama, was built in the mid of 17th century by King Jaitsingh. The temple has beautiful murals. The monastery was named after Swami Balbhadra Das who only had 'Doodh' (milk) as his food. Burials of the former Mahants can also be seen here.

Another prominent tourist spot in Raipur is Dudhadhari Temple which was constructed around 400 years back, in 1610. Before that, the temple was situated behind a fort in the depths of Budhatalab, and the temple was rebuilt by Ramanuj Das from Rajasthan. The first 'Mahanta' of this temple was Mahanta Dudhadhari, whose real name was Balbhadra Ji and who was coincidentally the nephew of Ramanuj Das, the founder of the temple. The temple is divided into two parts, the first part contains the idol of Balaji, while the second part is devoted to worship of Ram Panchayatan. The temple gets specially decorated during the Ram Navami, Rath Yatra, Janmashtami and Ganesh Chaturthi.

During these festivities, 'the temple is thronged with devotees and there is also a Mahayagya once a year or sometimes even twice a year depending on the circumstances.
