With its elaborate exhibition of classical music instruments, the Sangeet Natak Academi tableau didn’t just win the applause of all present at the Republic Day parade this year but has now also won the best tableau prize.
The Akademi’s tableau showcased musical instruments like the veena, shankha, dumsa, santoor and the tabla — symbolising the rich diversity of Indian culture.

The performance by a male dancer from Karnataka and by dancers from Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh in the afternoon kept the audience spellbound at city’s Jayadev Bhawan.

Dozens of Bajrang Dal activists staged a violent protest in Raipur on Monday insisting that the screening of London Dreams be stopped immediately.
The men, armed with sticks and iron rods, raided Prabhat and Krishna cinema halls saying the movie hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus.
At least six workers of the cinema halls were reportedly injured in the attacks.
Raipur: Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India has signed a Grant of Permission Agreement for establishing, maintaining and operating a Community Radio Station at Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Letter of Intent had been issued to the Institute after recommendations of Inter Ministerial Committee and seeking requisite clearances from various Ministries. The Community Radio Station is expected to be operational within three months as per the agreement. With this, the number of CRS will increase to 54 in the country.

Raipur, July 6: The mystery behind detonators that went missing from Kanker forests deepened despite police recovering the truck and its driver.
Police have claimed that the vehicle’s driver, who was transporting the detonators to a National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) facility in Dantewada, had sold the devices.
On the other hand, the driver has blamed Maoists for looting the vehicle (a van with registration number CG-04-7288), which had left Raipur on Sunday for Dantewada.

The girl, who is from Dumartoli village of Jashpur district, 450km north of Raipur, had travelled to Mumbai three years ago through an agent.
Raipur, June 19 (IANS) Maoist rebels, who had abducted two policemen in Chhattisgarh’s restive Bastar region two days ago, Friday murdered them and dumped the bodies on a roadside in a forested area, police said.
Insurgents had kidnapped two men of the Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF), Ram Bhuwan Patel and Dhanjay Verma, from a hilly stretch in Bijapur district, some 450 km south of here.
Police said the victims’ throats were slit with sharp edged weapons.
Raipur (PTI) An Assistant Commandant of the CRPF was on Wednesday killed and five personnel injured when naxals attacked a police team in Bijapur district, about 450 kms from here.
A group of naxalities attacked a police patrolling team in the forests of Karchuli village of the district in which Assistant Commandant Rajpal Singh and five others sustained serious injuries, Deputy Director General (Naxals) Pawan Dev said.
Mr. Singh succumbed to injuries on his way to hospital, Mr. Dev said.
Meanwhile, no one has been arrested as the naxals managed to flee from the spot.
